The Narcissism of Colonization
It occurs to me that one must have a truly narcissistic perspective to traverse the world and upon arriving in new places, subjugate the customs and governance of the place through a lens of your own rules, judge that society, and tell yourself on your own authority that you have the right to engage in acts of terror against the inhabitants and steal their resources. This insult grows exponentially when the inhabitants you encounter welcome you and help you only for the colonizer to repay kindness covetous lechery, murder, rape, slavery, psychopathic insistence that the newly encountered mimic your society in all ways that you see fit lest you engage in further terror, while repeatedly reneging on every agreement and treaty that you make whenever it is profitable for you. It’s funny, the colonizing perspective holds that one is justified in engaging in any behavior to attain power, manifest destiny, if you will; however the end result of such action could only be the eventual destruction of the colonizer once their misdeeds are inevitably discovered and thus legacy is tainted by methodology. Further, it is ironic that one that who acts so immorally deems to name themselves the authority on morality and positions itself to provide governance to others.
The lack of self awareness involved in western colonization is further evidence of narcissism, as the narcissist insist that their every action is good with a fundamental inability to admit to any wrong doing or short coming; choosing instead to deny accountability at all costs and label horrible acts as just rather than admitting that they or even a predecessor did something wrong. Narcissism asserts that it has all the answers, that it is infallible and just at all times (god complex) and any claims or evidence of the opposite is projected onto the preyed upon. It is an inherently selfish mindset which cripples the afflicted (particularly the colonizer) in such a way that the afflicted are unable to make equitable laws or governance because the narcissist is unable to empathize and consider the needs of others. On the contrary, the narcissist only concedes resource when it is beneficial to the narcissist or through force. The narcissist has no honor and adheres to no rule other than attain for yourself as much as you can; there actions being driven by insatiable greed fueled by a deep seated fear that there will not be enough resource, and the resulting insecurity causes resource hoarding. This fear is so deed that it causes the narcissist to shed humanity; the narcissist can now watch children, elders, and the infirm starve to death while they have surplus. This selfishness was useful early in human development as there were times of lack where the most vulnerable in society might not have survived, however those with intact humanity would not deny food to the hungry when the society has surplus, especially when that surplus is due to scientific advancement. One must truly be narcissistic to engage in activity that causes homelessness and starvation in the current American society.
Furthermore, the western disregard for life with respect to war is extremely narcissistic. War should be engaged in only when necessary, after mediation and reasonable concession has been made to avoid the loss of life which shows love and support for the citizens. The western methods of war mongering reflect the narcissistic mindsets of the Greeks, Romans, and Vikings, as it views itself as the upmost of humanity without any evidence, or even true knowledge of those that they plan to terrorize. They believed the individual is secondary to the society, which is a mindset cultivated by a narcissistic uncaring ruling class whom would sacrifice its citizens for the opportunity to acquire resources; a necessity for an unyielding environment that is unable to support the populace interred there. Thus, extreme self centeredness which morphs into pathological narcissism is justified in the mind of the colonizer, and the human characteristics of empathy, compassion, and cooperation are shed and terrorism and control become the norm.
The narcissist truly is tragic because they cannot get out of their own way to attain happiness. Insecurity is a norm which requires constant reassurance masked as consumerism and acquiescence to sameness which crushes the souls of the true individual spirit; leaving most citizens in a constant state of fear of exclusion. This is ironic, because the narcissist needs the citizens to survive and thus projects its own insecurity onto its citizens, which is mirrored in the slave trade; individuals were kidnapped and brought to a strange land, terrorized into working by lazy, inadequate colonizers, and were hated and threatened with expulsion when the labor of the enslaved was the very thing creating wealth for the colonizers, which the colonizers repaid with terror, hate and projection of their own negative emotions and inadequacy onto those that they were exploiting. Colonizers justified the rape of the slave by calling them animals; now I’ve never personally been attracted to an animal, and even if we were a different sub species (which we are not) it takes a true psychopath to see children born as a result of their actions and deny the child that they forced into the world. Furthermore, well adjusted people do not rape because rape is not about sex but a sense of power and control; it is the ability to impose your will onto someone that does not want it so that the offender can feel powerful. The need to exert power over another is evidence of the lack of power one feels inside, which one denies to oneself by exerting power over another, which is typically the vulnerable. The fact that power can only be exerted on the vulnerable tells the inner self that it is despicable, and the broken narcissist projects that despise on the vulnerable, blaming the vulnerable for being available for attack instead of recognizing that they despise themselves for their own desperation and inability to self control. The colonizing narcissists push people away and separate them into groups because they subconsciously know that if people were to unite and choose love and happiness THEY would be the ones expelled as the people that are around them are kept there through lies, manipulation, and bribes. The narcissist has nothing to offer because they are spiritually bankrupt, so they disturb the spirits of others to avoid discovery. They feign elitism when in reality they fear closeness because they fear discovery; yet they invade havens of others because they fear exclusion. Narcissists are unable to achieve happiness so they destroy the happiness of others, vying for control so that they can rape the souls of the masses and subject them to cruelty in an attempt to establish value for themselves. Therefore, the colonizer is a narcissist.
